Call For Proposals
National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)

Theme: Age of Disruption, Innovation and Adaptation

It’s been a while, so let’s make up for lost time. NCIHC will hold its first in-person meeting since the pandemic.

The National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC) invites you to submit proposals for its 2025 Language Access Congress, taking place in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 25-27, 2025.

Join us as we explore the transformative forces shaping the future of language access and healthcare interpreting. This dynamic congress will feature a hospital clinic tour, keynote speaker, educational sessions, networking opportunities, and our famous Interpretini reception.

Congress Goals:

The main goal of conducting a Language Access Congress is to offer an event accessible to members and non-members of NCIHC as well as to roll out an open call for proposals as a way of bringing diversity and inclusion into our programming. Our event is dedicated to learning about relatable topics that could be transferred to the different aspects of language access through policy changes affecting it, accompanied by communication among individuals promoting, supporting, advocating and offering language access in health care.

We are seeking proposals that address the following key themes:

  • Emerging technologies and their impact on interpreting: Explore the use of AI, machine translation, and other technologies in healthcare interpreting and language access, and the ethical and practical considerations.
  • Adapting to changing healthcare landscapes: Analyze the evolving healthcare delivery models and discuss how language access services can adapt to meet new demands.
  • Training and education: Showcase innovative approaches to interpreter and/or stakeholder training and continuing education that prepare practitioners for the future.
  • Cultural competency and inclusivity in healthcare: Present strategies for promoting cultural understanding and inclusivity in language access among healthcare providers and interpreters.
