LAURA PRICE
Running for Director of the NCIHC Board of Directors

Laura Price is a Translation/Interpretation instructor at Durham Technical Community College (DTCC), Ramapo College of N.J. and a Translation instructor for the University of Arizona. She teaches community, medical and legal interpreting as well as business & medical translation. She is also a PhD student in Applied Languages, Literature and Translation at Jaume I, Spain, and a PhD student in Curriculum and Instruction at UNC Charlotte. She has been an EC interpreter/translator and worked in early intervention, mental health, brain injury and domestic violence for the past twenty-three years both in home visits as well as in the school system and clinics. She earned her MA in Spanish with a focus on Translating and Translation Studies from UNC-Charlotte and a MEd in Early Childhood and Family Support from UNC Chapel Hill. She has also received Graduate Certificates in Autism, TESOL and Teaching English in the 2 year college from East Carolina University and Graduate Certificate in Languages and Culture Studies and Antiracism from UNC-Charlotte. She is a passionate and caring advocate for the education of future interpreters and translators that will be able to work professionally and successfully in the field. In her role as a director, she would like to assist the board and the president on the creation of professional development, planning of future conferences and reviews of policy to advocate for equity and inclusion in language access.
